The #1 Revenue Killer in Retail:

Gut-feeling decisions

Product placements, pathways, and promotional materials all influence how long people stay in your store, how comfortable they feel, and how much they purchase.

Better shopping experiences

Perfect product placements

Measurable marketing campaigns

The problem: Most retailers today lack reliable data to base their decisions on. Instead, they improvise—relying on experience, gut feeling, and what has always worked before.

But customer behavior changes. Peak times shift. Attention wanders.

The result?

Ads miss their mark.

Customers walk past your best products.

Bottlenecks cause frustration and dissatisfied customers.

What you need is clear data:

With this knowledge, you can use your space more efficiently, reduce wait times, enhance purchase impulses—and increase your sales figures.

Standard in e - commerce, missing in stores: behavioral data of your customers

In online retail, it’s long been standard: every click is tracked, every movement analyzed. You know exactly how many people visit your website, how long they stay on specific products, when they leave, and at what times the most traffic occurs.

Meaning: Every decision is data-driven.
Product displays, placements, and offers—nothing is left to chance.

And in brick-and-mortar retail?

This clarity is often lacking. Because you lack the data.

But what if you had the same clarity in your store as you do online?

What if you could see exactly how your customers move through the store, where they stop, which paths they take—and when certain areas are particularly in demand?

Imagine if in retail you could…

… optimize your space and product placements psychologically because you know where your customers stay the longest.

… manage marketing efforts, staff planning, and opening hours based on real-time and historical data.

… shorten wait times—and thus prevent lost sales.

It sounds like online tracking—only offline.
And that is exactly what ANALYSIT makes possible.

Control product placements, pathways, and marketing efforts based on data with ANALYSIT

With the ANALYSIT Counting System, you see in real time how many people are in your store—including gender and mask detection. Employees can be excluded from the count if desired.

Our intelligent 3D sensors anonymously capture how people move through your store: which paths they take, where they linger, and which zones are most frequented—all in real time and GDPR-compliant.

Historical overviews show you visitor numbers on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. You also see when particularly many or few visitors came.

Additionally, you can directly compare the total footfall of individual stores and sensors—for example, by time periods or locations.

For deeper insights, we also offer an in-store analysis. That means we provide you with concrete evaluations and recommendations for optimizing your layout. We analyze the most heavily frequented areas, the most common customer paths, and spots that receive less attention.

Your benefits with ANALYSIT:

Optimization of store layouts and product placements:

Heatmaps show you which areas are in focus. This allows you to place high-margin products more effectively.

Better ad placements:

Deploy your marketing measures where they truly have an impact. This way you measure and increase your return on marketing investment.

Analyze gaze directions:

With the data, you can see where your customers are looking—and place promotional materials or products where they receive the most attention.

Gender identification:

Track whether men or women are more present in your store and use these insights for even more targeted addressing and product placement.

Performance benchmarking for locations:

Compare different locations and sales areas to determine the best performance metrics.

Efficient resource planning:

Identify when more staff is needed and thus optimize your staffing schedule and reduce wait times at checkout.

Data-driven pricing model:

Evaluate rental spaces based on customer traffic and maximize your revenue.

By the way:

The ANALYSIT Counting System can be used profitably not only in retail. Other areas with foot traffic can also benefit. Learn more about the application possibilities of ANALYSIT here.

With sensor data, you can make informed decisions about marketing efforts, product placements, and pathways.

Frequently asked questions about the use of sensors for analyzing customer behavior in retail

How do sensors help increase sales in retail?
By using real-time data from sensors, you can analyze how your customers move through your store. This lets you optimize product placements, pathways, and marketing efforts, reduce wait times, and improve the overall shopping experience—all of which directly boost your sales.
What exactly do the sensors measure?
Our sensors precisely measure foot traffic and customer movement patterns. You can see which pathways customers take and which areas of your store are most frequently visited.
Are personal data collected?
No, the sensors do not collect personal data. They only gather metadata, such as movement data, that cannot be traced back to individuals. All data is processed and stored in full compliance with data protection regulations.
How is customer flow analyzed?
Customer flow is captured through 3D data and movement analysis. This allows you to track exactly how people move through your store and identify the busiest areas.
What are the benefits of real-time data for my business?
Real-time data allows you to respond quickly to customer behavior—for example, by optimizing product placement or adjusting marketing efforts. You can also fine-tune your staffing schedules based on actual visitor numbers, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
How can I use the data to personalize my marketing strategy?
The data shows you which products attract the most attention and which areas are the most visited. You can then place marketing materials and promotions exactly where they will have the biggest impact.
How do the sensors help reduce wait times in my store?
The sensors help you identify peak hours and bottlenecks early on. With these insights, you can better plan staffing levels and opening hours to minimize wait times and prevent lost sales.
Can I use the system for multiple locations?
Yes, the system is scalable and can be used across multiple locations. You can compare data from different sites to benchmark performance and optimize each store individually.
Is the system privacy-compliant?

Yes, the ANALYSIT Counting System is fully privacy-compliant. All collected data is anonymized—no personal data is stored or processed. The system meets the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).

Our solution is based on Xovis 3D sensors, which are certified with an E-Privacy seal from Germany. These sensors are edge-processing devices, meaning all data processing happens directly on the device. No camera footage is stored or transmitted—only anonymous movement metadata is generated. This ensures no personal identification is possible.

Are the 3D sensors cameras?

The term „camera“ can be interpreted differently, but generally refers to devices that capture photos or videos.

Xovis sensors are edge-processing devices: all image processing happens directly on the sensor in real time. No photos or videos leave the sensor during operation—only anonymous X/Y coordinates or event triggers are transmitted, such as when a person crosses a virtual line in the entrance area.

How is the system installed and configured?
The system can either be installed on-site by your team or with support from our service team. After installation, your dashboard is ready to use through a web browser.
How are the data integrated into my business?
The collected data is visualized in an intuitive dashboard. You can access the data directly in your browser and analyze key KPIs such as visitor frequency and peak hours. Based on this data, you can make informed decisions to improve your store layout and marketing strategy.
How soon will I see results?
Implementation and data collection take a short time. Once the sensors are installed and configured, you can monitor results in real time and immediately start making improvements.
Are there other application areas for the system?
Yes, besides retail, the system can be used in other high-traffic environments, such as shopping malls, trade fairs, airports, and train stations.
How can I expand coverage if one sensor doesn't cover the entire area?
Up to 9 Xovis sensors can be combined into a multisensor setup to cover larger areas without additional hardware.
Do the sensors require an external power supply?
No external power supply is needed. All sensors run on Power over Ethernet (PoE) Class 0, IEEE 802.3af—power and data are transmitted over a single network cable. If no PoE connection is available, sensors can also be connected via Wi-Fi and powered by a separate power source.
Can the sensors be installed outdoors?
Yes, special outdoor models are available for outdoor use.
Do the sensors work in complete darkness?
Similar to the human eye, visual sensors do not work in total darkness. The sensors require a minimum of 2 lux light intensity. Simply put: if you can see well enough to move safely, the sensor sees enough as well. Additional lighting is generally not required.
Can a sensor be mounted on a wall?
Yes, as long as the sensor is aligned parallel to the floor. Please note: wall mounting reduces the detection area. A tilt angle of more than 5° is not recommended.
How large is the detection area of a sensor?
The detection area depends on the lens used and the mounting height. The mounting height is the distance between the sensor and the floor. Any mounting accessories (such as adapter plates or brackets) must also be taken into account.
